Open previous step

Function: Open previous step

This action allows you to easily navigate back to the previous step within a multi-step process or form, often called a "stepper." It's perfect for users who need to review or edit information they entered in an earlier stage of a workflow.

Input

  • Stepper UI Element: This is the specific multi-step component on your application screen that you want to control. You need to select the exact stepper element for which you wish to open the previous step.

Execution Flow

Real-Life Examples

Here are some scenarios where you might use the "Open previous step" action:

Example 1: Online Order Checkout

Imagine you have an online store checkout process with steps like "Shipping Information," "Payment Details," and "Review Order."

  • Inputs:
    • Stepper UI Element: Checkout Process Stepper
  • Result: If the user is on "Payment Details" and clicks a "Back" button, the Checkout Process Stepper will automatically navigate back to the "Shipping Information" step, allowing them to make changes.

Example 2: Job Application Wizard

Consider a multi-page job application form where users fill out "Personal Details," "Work Experience," and "Education."

  • Inputs:
    • Stepper UI Element: Job Application Wizard
  • Result: A user on the "Education" step realizes they made a mistake in their "Personal Details." By triggering this action, the Job Application Wizard will move back to the "Work Experience" step, and if triggered again, to "Personal Details."

Example 3: Onboarding Guide for New Employees

You've built an interactive onboarding guide for new hires, covering "Welcome," "Company Policies," and "Team Introduction."

  • Inputs:
    • Stepper UI Element: New Employee Onboarding Guide
  • Result: A new employee is reviewing "Team Introduction" but wants to quickly re-read a section in "Company Policies." Activating this action will take them back to the "Company Policies" step in the New Employee Onboarding Guide.
